KERN audio has announced the release of three plugins, each solving one problem:
- Smooth:
- Dynamic resonance suppression.
- 40 psychoacoustic frequency bands find and tame harshness across your mix.
- One knob gets you 80% there.
- Warm:
- Harmonic saturation with three characters.
- Tape, tube, transformer.
- Alias-free Chebyshev waveshaping with spectral awareness.
- Wide (Beta):
- Psychoacoustic stereo expansion.
- Allpass decorrelation, Haas delays, and M/S processing.
- Mono-compatible width that translates.
- Currently in beta. Early access at kernaudio.io.
All three share the same architecture: 4096-point FFT, 40 ERB bands, real-time spectral display, M/S routing, under 3% CPU. Five knobs maximum per plugin. VST3 and AU on macOS and Windows.
